~ MMD Tip of the Day ~

When creating your own animated scenes, be sure to put your effects on last! Once all of the motion data and the camera data is complete and saved, only then should you put your effects on :)

Why?

Because putting large effects on while you are animating can cause lag and also increases the risk of MMD crashing. Also sometimes when you save your scene as a project file, some effects can cause crashing when trying to load your work back up again! This renders the whole project unusable as it will continue to crash each and every time you try to load. This is because there is far too much to load for your computer to handle! >.< It tries its best but in the end gives up :(

(Trust me... this has happened soooo many times, luckily I have the main motion and camera data saved. Everything else needed to be replaced and it took a lot of time.)

Edit:

This great piece of advice has been shared by the awesome Wampa842 for when you have saved the project file with effects and it crashes!

"If a project crashes on load because of the effects, navigate to the .pmm file, and delete the .emd (or .emm, can't recall) with the same name. MME stores effect mapping in separate save files because storing it in the PMM is impossible. If you delete that file, it simply won't load any effects, as if it was made without MME."
Thank you! That would have saved me a lot of time if I knew about it a while ago :P I may even have some old project files that I can do this on too~ Yaay old projects
