[**] How do you make MME Effects?

Journal Entry: Wed Aug 14, 2013, 6:59 AM

Seriously, does anybody know? >0<

I have had a interest in MME effects for a while but I cannot find anything on how they are made or what program they are used in!
There is a small bit on the Miku Miku Beat website that says:

"You can do that with a program called Rendermonkey."

But it then says on another page:

"When MikuMikuEffect was first released, it was noted that rendermonkey presets were compatible with it. The software has since been discontinued. I found the following on the download page."
"RenderMonkey has reached end of life. AMD no longer supports RenderMonkey, but makes it available for download without warranty."

TT_______TT I just wanna know how to make awesome effects like these: www43.atwiki.jp/beamman/ . Can anyone help or maybe give me some advice?

MME effects are written in HLSL, which is a derivative of C++. You don't need rendermonkey or any special software, .FX files are plain text files that can be edited in Notepad (I don't recommend it though).

What you do need is years and years and YEARS of programming experience, and I'm not over-exaggerating. You must know the basics in programming, the theory, thesis.....es, and of course the structure, the reserved words and the syntax of C++ and HLSL. And then you need the "four stages" as my programming teacher says: I. What you have; II. What the program has to do; III. How it has to do it; IV. Composition, flowchart, structograms, and the code itself.

Writing even a simple effect is a complicated process, and learning all I've listed above takes years. I've got two years of experience, yet my greatest achievement was an effect that changes the model to plain grey. I'm sorry to say this, but if you want to learn programming only for writing MME effects, you'd better just forget about it and stick to using or maybe modifying already made ones.

I knew it was going to be hard, I just didn't know how hard :S

I have done 2 ears of programming myself in C++ but I don't think I am anywhere near the standard needed to create the effects. One effect that has been on my mind for months is one for fireflies... I just couldn't believe no-one had done it yet, and now I know why!

But at least I have my answer now, thank you for commenting and telling me how it is done. I couldn't find any information about it anywhere :S No wonder there are no tutorials and such, it is so complicated to do! I am not continuing down the programming road in college now, I am branching off and going into Web Design as I was not all that into C++... I think I will stick HTLM, Java and PHP :P

Thank you for your comment <3

Fireflies, like hovering yellow dots? I think I've got just the perfect effect for that. I can modify a snow effect to fireflies.

sta.sh/02gadj6jaqv5 Here, I modified a snow effect. I optimized it to my taste, but you can open it in Notepad and change the settings, you'll notice them. I wrote a little explanation above each variable.

Hello, Wampa. Do you mind if I could use that effect of yours?

If yes, in what manner would you like to be credited, and also in the name Wampa842?

Sure, go ahead, but please indicate that I only edited the effect, it was not made by me.

No problem ^^
Pond and forest? I've already got a forest stage, I can easily add a pond, do you want me to make it? (should be done by tomorrow)
